A stylish mini quilt project using fused raw edge appliqué
A Quick 'n Easy Fused Raw Edge Appliqué Project
Join in with this Easy Appliqué ModArt Monstera Mini Quilt Project to polish your skills with raw edge appliqué using paper-backed fusible web and machine stitching, or to create a quick-and-easy weekend project for a gift, or just for fun!
This versatile project, designed as a mini quilt (approximate finished size 15" x 15"), can also be used to create contemporary cushion covers, resized for bed quilts, a design on clothing or accessories, and the two leaf designs can be used together as shown, or separately.
Resizing the pattern is easily achieved at your local office store or right at home on your own computer.
What you'll learn...
This video-based project class follows on perfectly from Appliqué 1: You've Just Begun, or the more experienced stitcher can use it as a quick weekend project when you need a last-minute gift, or simply want something creative to do!
You'll use paper-backed fusible web to create this contemporary design with raw edge Appliqué.
I'll be there every step of the way, showing you everything you need to know:
- Supplies and Materials
- Assembling the Pattern pieces
- Preparing and fusing your appliqué
- Stitching the design
- Completing the background
- Binding your quilt
No free motion stitching skills are required for this project, unless you choose to work the background using a free motion filler. The demonstration gives an example of stitching the background using regular stitching, with the feed dogs up.

What students say about Deborah's online courses...
'What a wonderful course, I'm so pleased that I subscribed. Thank you for sharing your expertise and making the lessons so accessible and easy to follow.' Ann. (Fabulous Fabric Landscapes)
'I've just been through the course, so I know what to expect, and find it clear and easy to follow. The Lifetime access is so useful, as like many others, I have to fit the course around other things, and had it been access for a set time, I'd have found it difficult to complete. As it is, I'll be able to relax and make the most of the time I have to create and stitch. Looking forward to beginning. Thanks, Deborah.' Alison (Fabulous Fabric Landscapes)
'Hi Deborah, I've really enjoyed watching this series of videos and can't wait to get started. Also looking forward to future courses - please add me to your e-mail notifications of these new courses. Thanks, Mary.' (Freestyle Machine Thread Sketching)
'This is one of the best on-line courses I've ever taken. The tone is just right, and everything seems to be covered, in an orderly and understandable manner. The downloads are excellent, and the lessons very straight-forward. Having listened and read through the whole course, I'm now ready to begin sewing, and am looking forward to also incorporating other fabric techniques I'm familiar with, such as dyeing and printing, into future work. Thank you, Deborah, for all the effort put in to making this course so very good.' Alison.(Fabulous Fabric Landscapes)
'Hello Deborah, I'm new to free motion quilting and so pleased I enrolled on your course. I have watched the whole course, and enjoyed every minute of it, with your very clear and pleasant teaching method before I venture into drawing and sewing my first picture. Kind Regards Val from the UK.' (Freestyle Machine Thread Sketching)
